MEXICO CITY. On December 13 2018, Spanish media company Grupo 014 Media (“014 Media”) signed binding agreements to acquire the majority of the outstanding share capital in Mexican experience marketplace Wishbird Experiences (“Wishbird”). Wishbird was founded in Mexico City in 2012 by Mexican entrepreneur Cristina Amezcua and German entrepreneur Ralf Aigner and manages one of the largest catalogues of experiences in Mexico with up to 1,700 activities in 25 states. The Company has developed into one of Latin America’s leading players in the strongly growing B2B and B2C market for leisure experiences.

With more than 6 years of experience in the Mexican tour & activity sector the Wishbird team has built a strong network and reputation in the market. The Company has established long standing relationships with the leading tour & activity operators, as well as distributors such as Mundo Joven, Best Day and others.

014 Media will use the established platform to expand its market reach and drive synergies with its existing B2B products. Former CEO Cristina Amezcua will stay on with the Company in an advisory capacity. Wishbird had been funded in the past by US early stage investor 500 Startups and various business angels. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. Pedralbes Partners acted as exclusive advisor to Wishbird.
